Using this site.

This website is run by OTX Systems LLC (“OTX”, “we”). By using it, including the calculators on the Tools pages, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

Calculators

Tools are for estimating only.

The calculators are free reference tools. They use textbook formulas and simplified models, which each tool page describes along with its limits. Real hardware is affected by things these models leave out, such as tolerances, materials, mounting, coupling and the environment.

• Results are estimates for education and early planning. They are not a substitute for engineering analysis, simulation, measurement or professional judgment.
• You are responsible for checking any result before you rely on it, including in any design, purchase, safety, regulatory or operational decision.
• We may change, correct or remove a tool at any time without notice.

No warranty

Provided as is.

The website, the calculators and all content on it are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site or any result is error-free.

Liability

Limitation of liability.

To the fullest extent the law allows, OTX and its owners, employees and contractors are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this website or its calculators. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, consequential and special damages, lost profits, and damage to equipment, even if we were told such damage was possible.

You use the site and its calculators at your own risk. The site is free, and if you are unhappy with it or with any result, your only remedy is to stop using it.

Indemnity

Your responsibility.

You agree to defend and hold harmless OTX and its owners, employees and contractors from any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the site or its calculators, anything you build or decide based on them, or your breach of these terms.

Product descriptions and specifications on this site are typical values and may change without notice. They are not an offer or a guarantee. The specifications, price, delivery and warranty for anything we supply are set only by a written quote or contract signed by OTX. Sending a quote request does not create a contract or an engineering relationship.

Content

Our content.

Text, photos, drawings, logos and code on this site belong to OTX or are used with permission. You may use calculator results in your own work. Please don’t copy or republish the site itself without our permission. OTX Systems™ is a trademark of OTX Systems LLC.

Use

Acceptable use.

Don’t try to break, overload or gain unauthorized access to the site, or use the quote form to send spam.

Links to other sites are for convenience. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for them.

General

Law and changes.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about the site or these terms will be heard only in the state or federal courts located in Maryland. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
